The Traditions 1853 Enfield rilfe ( buy now ) was used in the Civil War by both the North and the South. The Confederates imported more of these guns during the war and towards the end of the war, more than 75% were armed with the 1853 Enfield. It was the second most widely used rifle behind the 1861 Springfield Musket. The original (as with this reproduction) have a 39″ barrel and was fastened to the stock with 3 metal bands. This model is also known as the “three band” model.
